Cradle of our modern culture, and home to many of the most significant cultures that have existed in history; looking at this reality it is obvious that the conditions for human development were and are very special within the Mediterranean basin. In the records of our ancestors, who lived in those cultures in those times, we can find clues to how the reality of the Mediterranean ecosystem, the fountain of wealth and prosperity of said cultures, used to be.
It is recorded that rivers used to flow full, water springs were abundant, soils were deep and fertile, pastures that were rich and green, exuberant trees, and forests stood where there are now dry shrub lands.
The modern reality offers a stark contrast. Even though us humans have played a significant role in destroying this ecosystem, it is also possible for us to recreate such forests. We at GrowBack have set this as our mission and believe that Syntropic Farming plays a crucial role in creating a future for humans in the Mediterranean
Adapt Syntropic Farming to the realities of the Mediterranean climate
Planting forests that show how the Mediterranean Basin could look like again
Create green oases and hotspots of activity for pollinating insects
Planting food to create forests - forests that produce high amounts of food
